About Prudence Magee, CMT

Almost Heaven Massage Therapy, was established in 1998 by proprietor, Prudence Magee. She received her training from the prestigious Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts completing the school's rigorous 900-hour program in February 1998.

Since graduating from MTI, she has continued her education, taking workshops for pregnancy massage, including a 32-hour prenatal and perinatal certificate program with Carole Osborne-Sheets. This course offered advance training in massage techniques for pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

In 2001 she attended classes at the former Hands of Light School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts  completing a 3-day workshop for doula training by the Doula’s of North America and later attended an advanced doula training course offered at Hands of Light. Doulas are women who provide continuous, nurturing support throughout the process of childbirth. You may read more information about doulas at www.dona.org.

During the fall of 2003 she completed a professional training course with Rosita Arvigo D.N. for Maya Abdominal Massage. The Arvigo Techniques of Abdominal Massage addresses position and health of the pelvic and abdominal organs. More information about this work may be found at www.arvigomassage.com.

She holds memberships with Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, www.abmp.com, National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, http://www.ncbtmb.com, and the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce.

Prudence has worked with people of all ages and needs. She approaches her client’s needs with sensitivity, compassion and understanding. Prior to her career as a full time massage therapist, she worked at the Vineyard's only hospital for many years as a Central Supply Technician and certified nurse's assistant.
